Mesh prepared tender drawings and managed the first stage of the Pakenham Revitalisation project, focusing on Main Street Gateway & Central. The project was completed in collaboration with Council, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying and Lighting Design and delivers a high-quality, safe and cohesive public realm. This transformation aligns with the community's vision of 'A vibrant and active Pakenham,' featuring enhanced public spaces, improved movement for all users and innovative blue-green infrastructure integration.
‘A vibrant and active’ Pakenham was the community vision for this project. Our approach seamlessly integrates urban design and landscape architecture that proposes a well-connected pedestrian and cyclist network across the precinct and beyond, whilst considering existing and future uses. Mesh delivered the public realm strategy for the Pakenham Major Activity Centre which compellingly articulates a vision for the centre that negotiates no less than three level crossing points within the project area. This project identified distinct precincts within the Activity Centre and proposed differing public realm responses that celebrated the differing characters of the Gateway, Central and Laneway areas to encourage walking, cycling and safety while seeking to shape the outcomes in and around LXRP works and a new community hospital. The project establishes a strategy for council to undertake key upgrades across the activity centre and successfully articulates The Pakenham Major Activity Centre is made up of distinct precincts seamlessly linked via a multitude of routes. A seamless balance between urban design and landscape architecture allowed this project to identify key projects within the activity centre and strongly informed the ‘Pakenham Revitalisation’ project.
